A star is born! This powerful and concentrated merlot-based blend is also very polished with really fine tannins that give it a silky texture, though it's still really young. Yet, the very ripe but delicate blue-fruit character makes it difficult to resist now. Drink or hold.

A very elegant and polished Napa cabernet that's almost silky, in spite of its youth. I love the ripe yet delicate red berry and blackberry aromas. Although the acidity is barely perceptible, it provides the energy that gives this wine laser-beam focus through the very long finish. Drink or hold.

For this vintage of his Sonoma Coast wine, MacPhail blended from two vineyards in Annapolis, owned by the Putnam family, with fruit from the Karren family's Terra de Promissio Vineyard in the Petaluma Gap. "Their Sonoma Coast Pinot is a blend of multiple vineyards, in the 2018 vintage it's a 50/50 blend from the Pratt Vineyard and the Putnam Vineyard. You can absolutely see how the sum of the various parts have conspired to create a complex wine that is juicy while tart, silky while vibrant with acidity, complex, and certainly charming. The fruit was all hand-picked. It was fermented in small, open-top fermenters and aged in French oak (36% new) for a period of 16 months. This wine is highly recommended and in very short supply so get yours fast."
